Product Information. The Casio G-Shock GWM5610-1 solar watches combine function and rugged style, which can make them ideal timepieces for those who are always on the go. One of the most important features of the wristwatch is its multi band atomic timekeeping with automatic update and calibration. You will not need to do a manual reset when crossing time zones. The radio signals of this feature allow for this watch to be a virtually zero effort, hands free device. With the Casio G-Shock GWM5610 model, time zones, Daylight Savings Time changes, and leap years are automatically accounted for. With periodic synchronization, the G-Shock watch can be accurate within 15 seconds per month.
This Casio G-Shock is able to run on battery or by using casual solar power. These Casio watches can keep ticking for quite a while due to the ability to get a solar recharge.
When the battery power is at a medium level or higher, the G-Shock watch can feature an automatic backlight with afterglow. The luminescence feature can be turned off or on in dark places by pressing down on the light button and by turning your wrist to you. Even with no exposure to light for recharging, the battery in this Casio G-Shock can last for 10 months on a full charge.
Those wanting to conserve power on the G-Shock watch can use the power-saving function to decrease battery usage. Featuring shock resistance, this Casio GWM5610-1 G-Shock watch can keep ticking regardless of intense usage. With water resistance up to 660 feet, you can take this watch into the pool for your favorite water sports. You can shower with confidence knowing this model of the Casio line of watches will keep working despite the water. Other useful features, such as the city code display and a fully automatic calendar, are available right on the digital face.
The calendar of the Casio G-Shock shows the day of the week, month, and date. The clock feature shows the hour, minute, and second, and the watch can be customized with 12 or 24 hour format capabilities. With a battery indicator on the front of the timepiece, you can always know how much charge is available. There is a stopwatch with the ability to measure down to 1/100 of a second, as well as an included countdown timer. You can measure elapsed time, track split time, and calculate 1st and 2nd place times with this feature. With the alarm option, you can set one of five daily alarms to make sure you get to where you need to be.
The black resin stationary bezel, gray dial, and the square digital display can make this Casio watch look as sharp as it is powerful. The dial window is made from crystal mineral to prevent scratching, so you can wear it daily, knowing it will stay in good shape. The buckle clasp can be put on and removed with one hand while being secure when on the wrist. The band length is a standard men’s size, so it is compatible with most men’s wrists. The dimensions of the band and the case are 1.8 inches by 1.7 inches by 0.5 inches. The weight is 6 ounces so although the watch feels sturdy, it will not weigh you down.
Everything I could want in a watch, and is my new favorite. After 6 weeks of ownership, I really, really like this watch. The resin band is comfortable, the notches are close enough for a good fit, and it is not excessively long; nor is the module itself too large or thick for my small wrists. The many features are easy to learn, useful, and usable - and quite customizable regarding connection with time broadcast, lighting, hourly chimes, 12/24 hr, and motion-activation of its backlight.
The solar charging eliminates battery changes, and the charge lasts quite long. I am mostly in a low-light environment but it always, so far, indicates a 'High' state of charge despite my frequent use the chrono, timer, alarms, chimes, and light. Whether low light, bright light, or dark, the display is very readable with good contrast - including while using t he electrolum. I like the arrangement of information, accuracy (an obsession with me), fit, feel, and appearance. Furthermore, it's a G-shock.

Also, though in many locations I'm sure the manual is correct and I'm just lucky near Louisville, KY, the nightly radio connection does not require me to take it off and leave it in one particular window facing west with no metal nearby - in fact, I almost never take it off and my reception signal strength is always highest and successful.I own several watches, and in a way I'm glad my Timex digital (with velcro band, and great display & features, has terrible time-keeping as it forced me to look elsewhere if I wanted a digital. I'm very happy with it, and this 40-year old dad is still driving his daughter nuts by pointing out how awesome it is. She even knows the city of the broadcast.:) Would not hesitate to buy again if I were to lose it. Casio G-Shock GWM5610-1A modern massaging of the original square G-Shocks of the 80's. The atomic timekeeping is useful as you never have to adjust the time.
The backlight is very brief and the automatic EL with wrist gesturing is wonky at best. Alarms, stopwatch and timer features come expected. Some caveats that may dissuade people from purchasing however.
This watch is for smaller wrists. Daily sun is also needed to charge the battery enough to prevent the watch from going into deep sleep battery saving mode. It only wakes up after a day in direct sun. A good bargain if you can score one for under $100.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New. Bullet Proof!Very nice classic style with updated internals (solar, atomic). You can't beat the value of this G-Shock, a regular 5610 without solar or atomic will cost you anywhere between 50-70 dollars. This watch is very comfortable and easy to wear, not too big nor too small.
If you want a watch for work or play I recommend this G-Shock, it's great for just about all outdoor activities. I only take this watch off when I have a formal event to go to, other than that this great timepiece never leaves my wrist!Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New. Great Value for the PriceI have owned the Casio GWM5600 for several years. I gave my old G-Shock to my son.
After about a year the battery died and after replacing the battery some of the functions no longer worked. Since the GWM 5600 has been updated to the GWM 5610 I bought one to replace his old G-Shock. It looks and works the same as my GWM5600.The really cool features about this watch are that it never needs a new battery and it synchronizes with an atomic clock every night. This is a truely no fuss watch. No extra bells and whistles. Most people have a smart phone that allows them to have all the games, contacts, and music they want so why have an expensive watch to worry about and a pricy smart phone?
I can't think of a reason. $100 for a watch that has been proven tough and dependable for decades is a go od bargain. If you have a loved one in law enforcement, EMS, military, or fire/rescue this would be a great gift that will last for many years.
